With Kindergarten as a new stage in our lives the whole family has had to make a few adjustments. It is an end of blissful time of freedom for Callie and the family. No more waking up at 8:00. We all get up at 7:00 and eat breakfast then Callie has a list of chores. 1. brush teeth 2. get dressed 3. make bed 4. empty dishwasher 5. read scriptures 6. say prayers. We have a good little routine and it has worked well for this first month of school. We have enjoyed having her home for the first 5 years of life. Letting her go for 6 1/2 hours a day has been hard. Avery no longer has a constant playmate, and Callie all of the sudden has many new things to learn and responsibilites to apease. I think both Cameron and I have had moments of sorrow as we realize this is just the begining of a long life where she will spend may hours away from home, learning how to make her own decisions, and how to cope with life and the influences of the world. Avery and I really miss her during the day. I know this sounds dramatic but really once you start school at 5 you have 13 more years of school. If you are Cameron you turn that 13 years into approx. 26 years of schooling. Just as Cameron is finally growing up and moving on past his school years. Our little girl has started her own journey of learning.
When asked what do you want your teacher to be like? Callie said,"I hope my Kindergarten teacher is nice and smart and knows everything. You have to know everything to be a teacher." Then we asked what are you most looking forward to in school? Her reply was "Doing math." I think she feels she has conqured reading so bring on the numbers.
When we drive to school in the morning Avery puts on her back pack too and says she is going to school. When Callie gets dressed Avery has to get dressed too. When I fix Callie's hair Avery pulls out her hair do, and insists on having the same thing done to her hair as Callie. She really looks up to her sister and has had the hardest time adjusting to this change.
For Callie so far it has been a breeze. She loves to make friends and she loves to learn. I think she loves the structure that I she has not always had at home. She has jumped right into school and has not looked back. She has 5 little friends from our church in her class. Pretty lucky considering there are 6 Kindergarten classes in her school.

It's a sad, yet exciting time. We just hope that we have prepared them enough to be able to make good choices. I'm so glad Callie is loving it! Cute little Avery pulls my heartstrings.
I'm so glad you posted so much! YAY! I love your darling little family! We miss you like crazy!
How cute are they?! It's a good thing I'm not Callie's teacher since I definitely don't know everything:) That's great that Callie loves school.
I'm so proud of Callie and her sweetness and intelligence. Avery is cute as can be and the picture of her dressed to go to school then sad because her sister goes without her is precious. They're great little sisters to each other. You and Cameron are such good parents.oxox
Soo cute! I've enjoyed reading all your blog entries and catching up on your family. xoxo
So glad you are updating again. I don't get to talk to you nearly enough and this helps to know what the family is up too. Miss you guys!!!
Chloe started kindergarten two days ago! Can you believe our babies are old enough to go to school!!
thanks for the catch-up pictures. Orion has lots in common with Avery--albeit fewer ponytail struggles. I wish you all the best on the newest adventure post-school!
Addie I miss you so much today! I wish you weren't gone but I am so happy that you are in a new phase of life and out of the school business. I know that once it starts to cool down Phoenix will become so much better for you. I love you.
